DIY FILTER
DIY FILTER
(posted as offtopic)
Let me know what you think, good-bad, etc...
I was just bored and decided to try and make my own sponge/in tank filter of sorts...I used the following: (1) 18" plastic tube left over from eheim canister filter, (1) filter container from inside of Magnum 350 canister filter, (1) air stone, (1) length of airline tubing, (1) round-soft sponge material, and whatever media you want to put inside the filter container (I'm going to put some carbon/ammonia chips in there for now...I'll upload some pics once I put into my 30gl to show it running...

thanks...it is bulky and I cut down the green pipe by 6" due to only putting in 30gl and didn't need the height...now, I'm wondering if the air pump powering the air stone will create enough umph to really generate enough water flow through the carbon and "filter" the water...may have to get me a strong air pump for it. Also, I put the blue sponge on there just for simplicity in creating some bacteria (like a regular sponge filter)...just something to do!

Seems to be good use of a part, if it was just laying around anyway. Hope it works for you. Let us know.
