could reefs be dangerus to cichlids?
Vince Cooper (m) » posted 2009/11/07 07:05 pm
Why? Africians aren't reef fish.
mo beats » posted 2009/11/07 07:08 pm
they like to squeeze in to crevices, i think the reef could scratch them and cause some serious damage

I am new to cichlid keeping. I have a 120gal saltwater aquarium at home, and I have a 46gal cichlid freshwater reef tank at office. I'd like my fish to be happy, any advices will be appreciated. here are some photos, these artificial corals are flexible not likely to scratch fish, and I posted some videos at www.instantreef.com thank you

natrualy these fish live among boulders and round rocks, they will be the happiest in that type of environment

Thank you for your advice, so far my fish are healthy and happy, I will do my best to keep them that way. It seems that they like to find corals have same color, for example red zebra likes red corals. Like I said I am a new hobbyist, I know there is a lot to learn, I just thought a freshwater reef tank looks colorful and it is easier to maintain.

if its fake coral and not all abbrassive they should be o.k., they look like the plastic stuff thats not so ruff
Vince Cooper (m) » posted 2009/11/07 07:39 pm
i went to the site & this stuff is high as heck but even if it's safe i still don't like saltwater effects in a freshwater tank . just my opinion
mo beats » posted 2009/11/07 07:41 pm
also on the site it says for saltwater tanks only

Thanks to everybody who gives me advices. I made sure that these artificial corals are flexible, not so abrasive, they have many holes for fish to swim-through and hiding. I also keep saltwater fish with them. I posted some videos at www.instantreef.com so you may see how these corals feel like. Please bear with me, I am trying to learn. I will do my best to be responsible to my fish, thank you

It is made of resin, non-toxic material. I keep testing water, it seems to be fine. I have been keeping saltwater fish with them for almost 2 years. I setup a freshwater reef tank in my office, because I do not have much time maintaining a saltwater one. I think a cichlid tank maybe a good alternative. Thanks

seems like alot of money to me for something thats not going to look natrual to rift lake cichlids, just an opinon

Why not setup a cichlid tank, with cichlid terrian?? Round river rock look very nice too.. Click on my name and look at some of my tank examples..
