Tropheus moorii
We bought three of these "wild" caught tropheus. They are about 3.5 inches and are a lot of fun to watch. We also bought six juvies of other types. We are currently looking for a large group of the same kind to put in here to spread their agression.

Wow nice! The store around the corner has differnt "wild" caught fish all the time. I have allways been worried they would be hard to care for.

So far so good with the trophs. They are only being fed spirulina flakes and NLS pellets. I had no idea how much I would like them till I brought them home :)

They are beautiful! Are they nice to your Frontosa's? I am so protective of mine.

So are we, after all they are the Favs in our house (we have nine fronts). The trophs don't even seem to notice the other fish. There seems to be some agression between the bigger male troph and smaller male which is why we need more of them. They really are entertaining to watch :)

Do they live in that beautiful 350 of yours? I keep telling Joe if I had something like that in my kitchen I may actually take up cooling :)

That is too funny :) Yes they are in the 350. We have 6 juvies in the 100 gallon that will eventually be in here along with 9 more calvus and a few Julis. Once we get the group of trophs that should complete the 350 gallon :)

Love the trophs! This is for anyone to answer if possible: How can you tell the wild caughts from the rest? They look the same right? I am curious, I don't want to be ripped off by an lfs just claiming they are wild. Thanks.

That is a good question Bip and honestly I don't know which is why I put wild in quotes. I would have paid what I did for these guys even if they weren't wild though :)

I know what you mean. Stunning fish, wild or not.

I also meant to add that lfs sometimes jack up the price of the fish if they call it 'wild'. I just don't want to be a sucker, at least if I can help it.

The best way to tell if they're wild in most cases is the crappy half starved condition they're in when they come into the store. Wild fish are more expensive due to the high costs of shipping the fish from their home countries and the losses that are incurred along the way. 80% of my fish are wild, but the colors speak for themselves after they are conditioned. Nice "Chaitika" btw.
