Sean n Schell B » posted 2009/05/28 04:13 am
Yes....It's funny cause people say you can mix them....They get along just fine...lol

They come from a totally different water quality, PH and hardness are very different,

What I'm saying is that these fish like a different ph to stay healthy... Africans like a high ph and very hard water where as south americans like a neutral ph and soft water...

What Wes is saying is different parts of the world different water parameters.
You've got some nice fish in there though

Way to many nagging mothers on this site, they did it and it works good for them. If I had always done what was considered correct by standards I wouldn't have my amazing group of cichlids now, all healthy and different.

Hey Nick.... Since when is giving a person knowledge and advice considered nagging?? There is a big difference between thriving and surviving, If and when his fish are not doing well, he will have an idea why!!!

Knowledge is one thing your comment of "You keep africans and south americans together?" is funny because you make no mention of how good his aquarium looks or the fish, only negative vibes first thing.

Nice looking fish...Wes, you're going to hate me too...I have FM's and a Portal mixed in with my Africans too and everyone works. I don't think the Ameri's are just 'surviving' they have a good life. I don't want this to turn into a personal thing though, I don't mean that all in a wrong way...but I kinda agree with Nick on that if it works it works.

Forget the Africans...if you are able to keep that Devil and those JD's together and have them all look that great..then Kudo's to you man... :)
