5 month old oscar
5 month old oscar
In his new tank...he is very happy now..althought he seems to be throwing his rocks and knocked over the anchor we had put in there. He also jumps and hits the lid alot. Would like to get him a mate or two.

Are you keeping the lights on at all times, thats probably why hes jumping at night, the anchor moving is caused by the moving of rocks by him self, just move rocks to the bottom and then set your decors and gravel around it, any Ideas any one else?????

there`s no room for other fish in your 25 gal....its even too small for an adult oscar.. soon or later you`re gonna have to get a bigger tank!

sweet fish,, but a 25 g is too small for him i have a huge oscar in a 55 all bye himself , besides an algie eater & it is still to small, he is 8 yrs old .. oscars just have a way about them if i were u i would put something on top of your lids or the easier route, like i do , is duck tap the lids shut, i know it looks kinda tacky , but it is better than coming home one day & finding him laying on the floor suffering or worse, dead . the tap does work , they all are jumpers. & as far as him moving stuff around , he will allways do that, no matter what u do to the tank , they just like to do it & it will never stop. they put the tank how they like it ...lol..& as far as getting another oscar or another fish i wouldnt, u really have to bring them up together to have htem get along, otherwise he will just kill any other fish that u put in with him.. & besides i wuld spend more money on another bigger tank for this beautiful creature before adding another fish for him , they like the solitude once they have been alone... how big is he? he doesnt look eal big but hard to tell in the pic, if he is small like 2 or 3 inches u could try getting another one of the same size but like i say he is gonna outgrow that tank really quick. oscars need at least a 55 or bigger to strive properly & be happy...

When you get a fish from someone that breeds them they can tell you how old they are..5 months old he is i am not sure on how big he is. We are in teh process of selling and moving so when we move we have a 55 gallon tank waiting for us. I shut his light off at night. We feed his brine shrimp, worms, baby gold fish.
I found a lid clip for it now so if the li is hit it wont open.
he is 7 inches long mouth to tail and he is 4 inches top to bottom.

too small of a tank..he'll grow fast..Been there....Some moron Had a Jd Oscar, and a pleco in a 40 gallon show tank and guess what I said sure I'll tank them and the tank, 1 week later the Oscar died he was the size of an NFL football..he was 6 years old, yes 6 years old, the pleco was alm ost as big as them, when you get an oscar they tell you he needs to be in a 30+ tank..and thats good your getting a 55 gallon cause he'll need the room, good luck!

7 inch long at 5 month ,thats some fast growing ,i have 2 oscars in a 90 gal with a severum and a chromide +plec .had my oscars bout a year (bout 6 inch long ).had the chromide first they have never bothered him ,just put the severum in 2 weeks ago and had no probs at all .oscars will only really bother other oscars in my experience or fish that can fit in their mouth. as long as you get a bigger tank i c no probs with getting tank mates 4 him
