Michelle, they only top out at 5 1/2 to 6 inches for males, and 4 inches for females. I have them in a 10 gal holding tank. I am going to set up a 30 gal tank for the 4 of them.
Does anyone who has kids remember the sing a long songs tape? Well there is a song on the little mermaid one "At the cod fish ball", and I swear I remember there is a calvus wearing a top hat, carrying a cane and escorting his lady fish wife to the ball. She was wearing pearls. It was so funny and I have been intriqued with calvus ever since.
All the swimming pool sand I see here looks to be pretty fine, and more tan. Maybe I need to quit looking at Home Depot and actually go to the pool store. We have an inground but don't use the and filter.
swimming pool sand unreal roger.. i am going to my pool shop to get some... awesome looking fish .. i am seeting a tang tank as well. have four princess so far.. just order 6 more and four shell dwellers cant remember there name and four julies ones with yellow and blue.. just came from the fish store..
Well Roger it is gorgeous and I am going to have to use it sometime. I am going to add water in the 110 tomorrow and get to cycling. About how long to cycle before adding fish. Bear in mind I hve cichlid sand that has bio material in it. Next project is to put 3 small frontosa in the 30 gal till they outgrow, then upgrade. Then I will use 30gal for calvis and shell dwellers. I'VE BEEN BITTEN, SOMEONE CALL A MEDIC. lol
oh and Michelle, a 30 gal. tank will not be good for the calvus/comps AND shell dwellers, unless you don't expect to keep any of the baby shellies, because the calvus and comps are essentially made for eating shelly fry. I would go ATLEAST 55 gallons for calvus and shellies to get along( that is the reason I hadn't been getting any fry from my shellies.. no more calvus and comps and now fry are out swimming more.)
Tang to clear your mind I will post my tanks tonight. You can ask John Young unlike some other people I welcome any and all that wish to come have a look. I do not have a fish room. I have tanks in every room in my house. John was here Saturday, and brought me a very nice Festae.
