1-day old pseudotropheus demasoni
1-day old pseudotropheus demasoni
Pseudotropheus demasoni
1-day old fry in a classic vertical demasoni hiding stance (near covered filter intake). I had to temporarily remove their hiding spots to take an accurate head count (7 fry in total). Extremely tiny! (1cm)

I tranferred the holding mom from my 75-gal to a vacant small tank. The very next morning she wasn't holding and there were fry in the tank. Took the pic right after that. So technically, the fry was still being mouth brooded 24-hrs prior to this pic.

CAN YOU TELL ME THE DIFF MALE AND FEMALE

Very hard to tell since both genders look practically identical and both are aggressive against they're own kind.

Aggresive but lovely fish. Just a shame that they dont have large broods of fry. Most i have ever heard of is 12.
How long does the female hold for till she released the fry. I have bought a breeding pair but so far had no look with them. Is there anything specefic which you did to set them off breeding. Appreciate any advice.

Mine usually release fry 14-16 days. Both genders look alot a like, it's possible you have two of the same gender. Also, it's harder to keep a pair than a bunch (I had trouble keeping 2 in a 125-gal and had to eventually relocate one).

Definately have a pair. The other two i have are smaller and so far are looking more female than male. Only time will tell.
